Discovery

This last week at Belmont Shona and I are going to other classrooms to observe how teachers conduct their day. We're not only going to visit the other Kindergarten classrooms, but also the ELL classroom and SpEd classroom. I have always been interested in SpEd, ever since last fall when I had my 401, which is the intro class. I had been toying with the idea of going on to SpEd in grad school, but now I really want to. I observed Angie (the K/1st grade SpEd teacher) work one-on-one with two students today, one who has Downs Syndrome and the other little boy is autistic. It was such a different experience, I really want to do what she does. I am looking into grad schools now, and thinking about perhaps just going right on to grad school next fall. The only problem is I have to take the GRE like, yesterday, and have to get all the money together for applications. I wish I could make up my mind in a more timely fashion, I might have to start in the spring of next year, but it is what I really want to do. School admin and ed psych will come later, but I really think SpEd is the area I want to work in.
